Just making a post to say how much I appreciate and love my friends here in college.

They’re all so great and I’m so glad to have met them.

In response to Joseph’s question,

Yes, I am attending college this fall! I will be studying at IUB to get my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, although I haven’t decided what I’ll be majoring in. Probably photography or design, with a minor in journalism thrown in there somewhere.

Coincidentally, I received news yesterday that I will be housing at a learning center for artistic students. Which means I will be surrounded by MY OWN KIND!!!

Yeah, I’m pretty stoked.

I have some big decisions to make.

Friday’s interview at The American Academy of Art was absolutely fantastic. I had the opportunity to tour the school’s main floor where they displayed artwork of their renown alumnus such as Alex Ross, Richard Schmid, and Haddon Sunblom. The representative loved the pieces I brought in, especially this one that I made for my school’s student publication magazine. She said I had great potential for the work I am interested in and advised me to go for my second interview with them in the next couple of weeks.

But that wasn’t the most shocking part.

What shocked me the most was what my mother said once we left the building. She told me that I could go there if I really wanted to. Yeah, this coming from the woman who had implied that I shouldn’t get my hopes up. I guess when she found out it cost about the same as sending me to an in-state university the idea became A-okay, because now she claims it is totally do-able.

The thought of it still seems so unreal to me. I mean, I COULD BE A STUDENT AT AN ART COLLEGE. I could be studying in Chicago - my home at heart - working full-time to perfect my artistic abilities.

However, there drawbacks to this. Since the tuition does not include housing, I would have to live at home. (As in my home town. As in the Shithole.) This would also mean that I would miss out on the glorious independence of a “normal” college lifestyle. And I’ve really been looking forward to experiencing that independence, you know?

To be honest, I don’t know what to choose.
